Well, for the first time in about, ohhhh, 10 years, I ventured into a swimming pool. Rod and I went to Tucson yesterday to go swimming with the granddaughters, daughter, and daughter-in-law. The temp in Tucson was hot but not HOT!! The water was temporarily cool until our bodies adjusted to it and then it was just tepid. Still, it was fun to play with the girls and visit with Nora and Christy.
We also got to visit with Margo for 3 hours. A friend of hers who lives in Mesa wanted to attend a wedding reception in St. David but didn't want to drive the 3 hours by himself. So he talked Margo into coming as far as Mesa and he drove the rest of the way. She preferred to visit with family so after the swim we picked her up at the designated drop-off site and went back to Nora's for pizza and family. Three hours later it was back to the drop-off site and good-bye to Margo. Happily, she will be back in two weeks to spend 3 weeks with us. Because she would be getting back to Mesa near midnight, and not wanting to drive another 2 hours back to Flag, she stayed the night and today with a friend from college (she was also a piccolo player in the band) who is at home in north Phoenix for the summer . They have a lot of fun together and I am sure spent most of the night talking. And, as usual, I forgot to take my camera so -- no photos!
We have some of the family coming Sunday for Michael's 26th birthday. He requested my Beef Stroganoff for his birthday dinner. The following Sunday, Rod and I will attend Nora's ward. She and Billy have speaking assignments and we will be there to listen and take care of the four girls.
Our garden has been growing well BUT, the javelinas are enjoying it before we can reap any benefits. Fence time! For those of you who don't know what these creatures are, they look like hairy pigs, some with tusks! For you hunters, there is a javelina hunting season in Arizona - bow hunting only, I believe. Don't know if their meat is edible, though.
