Saturday, October 11 ~~ We left Tucson, AZ at 7:00 AM PDT, had a 1-hour layover/plane change in Atlanta, GA, and arrived at Reagan National Airport at 4:00 PM EDT. We were greeted by warm weather, beautiful skies, and my brother, Martin, and his wife, Sybil. After getting our one checked bag and acquiring our rental car (which they upgraded from a mid-size to a luxury - a Mercury Grand Marquix - without added expence) we went on a short sight-seeing excursion.
My choice, because it was close and easily accessed, was the Marine Corps Memorial. It is also known as the Flag-raising on Iwo Jima. Arlington National Cemetary is right next to it and we saw a small portion of it from outside the wall but we decided to save that tour for another day as we were tired from the long trip. We did venture by car into DC that evening to see the White House at night, but you will see those photos in a later blog. Enjoy the few photos taken of this impressive memorial at
