I get asked that at least twice a day. As you can see, for a man with 5 broken ribs and shoulder blade, he's doing OK. He has moderate shoulder pain and has a hard time getting a good night's sleep with his back hurting. He went to a follow-up Dr. visit Monday and was given the news that he will be off work 2-3 months. Apparently the shoulder break, while not needing surgery, is quite uncommon. The bone at the top of the scapula is fractured (hardly ever happens) and then the fracture travels downward to about the middle of the shoulder blade itself. He will be starting physical therapy as soon as they can work him in. Luckily it can be done in Benson instead of having to travel to Tucson twice a week. All of his abrasions, except knees, are healed. His knees will need at least another week for complete recovery. Now we just wait to see how much our insurance will pay and what our part will be. I hope we don't have to take out a home equite loan, but with the helicopter ride to Tucson, who knows.
We will be flying to DC on Saturday. It should be interesting for Rod being cramped in an airplane seat for 3-4 hours on the flight from Tucson to Atlanta. He may have to pace the aisles. Still debating whether to take the laptop with us so I can blog our vacation.
