Riley's Birthday

Happy Birthday #23 today to our youngest son, Riley. Rodney is slowly improving and is producing more colorful bruises. He has a beauty on his right side and another on his left knee.
Yesterday when I got off work, Rod and I drove 40 miles east of here to Willcox and paid the hostage payment of $220 to recover his motorcycle from the tow company. BTW, it's not in too bad of shape considering it flattened a deer and skidded on the highway for a few hundred feet. Rod figured that price was worth recovering it just to use for the very expensive parts on it. He'll use them to get his other bike up and running. Yup. He still plans on riding, probably just not to work. Anyway, when Riley got home from work, he came over to unload the bike from our pickup. I asked how his day had been. Guess how he celebrated his birthday a day early? By getting in an accident on his way to work.
He was driving down a major Tucson street at about 5:00 AM in a company truck when a lightning strike took out all the lights in the area. Having no traffic lights to indicate intersections and being pitch black, Riley realized too late that he was in one when he saw a small truck coming at him from the cross road. He tried to avoid it but was broadsided in the passenger door. He says the girl driving must have been going about 50 in a 35 zone. With no traffic lights to say who had the right of way and him almost through the intersection, the fault will probably be the other driver's. Luckily, the truck he was driving was a very large, heavy truck. He has no injuries other than a possible bruise where he hit the door handle on impact. If fact, when he was walking around after the police arrived, he had to let them know he was the other driver. The officer responded they thought the girl had hit a pole. Riley pointed to his truck and said he was what she hit.
Talked to Trevor today. He says Kyleigh is doing great. We had planned on visiting them today and going to the temple but Rodney's adventure has delayed that plan. He also had Tabatha at his place as well as Alexis. He is going to try and get off work so they can all come to Michael's wedding.
